The Senior Care Assistant Role

We’re recruiting a Senior Care Assistant to join our team, supporting clients in their day-to-day lives—from personal care to social and recreational activities.

You’ll act as an expert on the health needs of our clients while being a friendly face they can trust.

The Senior Care Assistant will work closely with management, alongside other care staff, health professionals, and clients in their own homes.

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will promote all of Living at Home’s core values and beliefs in every aspect of your role—from working with our fantastic clients to mentoring new Care Professionals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years in Health & Social Care
  • Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care to clients, promoting dignity and independence in their daily lives.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing support via the on-call phone (6 a.m. to 11 p.m.) to address client or staff needs and ensure seamless operations outside of regular working hours when required.
  • Assist in creating and updating care plans, ensuring they meet each client’s specific needs.
  • Conduct spot checks and mentorship sessions to support the development of team members.
  • Respond promptly to any operational or care needs, including covering shifts and addressing emergencies.
  • Support compliance with CIW regulatory standards, fostering a culture of excellence in care delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and families, acting as a point of contact for concerns or questions.
  • Work on client runs starting at approximately 7 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4 p.m.–10 p.m.

Key Requirements:

  • Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (required).
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a health and social care setting.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and step in at short notice when required.
